Biography
My name is Kurt Kenning and I am the owner of Ultimate Energy Solutions LLC., a Northwest Indiana energy consulting firm located in Crown Point, IN.
After a 20 year career in the telecommunications industry, I have recently made a career change and became a Certified Energy Auditor. For years I have been educating myself on all the issues and problems that homeowners face. I began researching all the products and services, contractors and home improvements that could positively impact an inefficient building. I became passionate about reducing energy consumption, improving the comfort in homes and saving money. I then decided to turn that passion into my business and help other homeowners to improve their building's performance.
In 2009, I was Co-Chairman of the 1st Annual Solar Tour in Northwest Indiana where we showcased ten different sites in Lake and Porter Counties that use some form of renewable energy. I realized that a large part of producing your own energy(with Renewables) is the reduction of your need for energy in the first place. Making your home or business as energy efficient as possible is the fastest, easiest and most cost effective way to impact your monthly energy costs. Ultimate Energy Solutions is dedicated to helping improve the overall efficiency of homes and small businesses in Northwest Indiana.
Some of Equipment used for our Audits:
Minneapolis Blower Door
A diagnostic tool designed to measure the airtightness of buildings and to help locate air leakage sites. It consists of a calibrated fan for measuring an airflow rate, and a pressure-sensing device to measure the air pressure created by the fan flow. The combination of pressure and fan-flow measurements are used to determine the building airtightness. The airtightness of a building is useful knowledge when trying to increase energy conservation or decrease indoor air pollution, or control building pressures.
Fluke Thermal Camera
The ultimate tools for troubleshooting and maintenance. Built for tough work environments, this high-performance, fully radiometric infrared camera is ideal for troubleshooting electrical installations, electro-mechanical equipment, process equipment, HVAC/R equipment and others.
Combustion Analyzer
Measures: O2, Stack Temperature, Ambient Temperature and CO
Calculates: Combustion Efficiency, CO2, Excess Air and CO Air Free
It used to be that gas and oil fired residential furnaces and appliances could be adequately serviced by conducting visual tests. But with today’s highly efficient equipment designed to comply with regulatory, environmental and safety concerns, "eye-balling the flame" is no longer a sufficient way to test.
Based on the winning technology platform of the Fyrite Pro Analyzers, the Fyrite Tech offers service technicians an economical means to achieve greater precision than can be obtained with visual tests. From Carbon Monoxide testing to Oxygen and stack temperature measurement, the Fyrite Tech lets technicians instantly gather the precise measurements needed to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of residential fuel-burning appliances and furnaces.
